The Devon and Cornwall Cooperative Alliance (DACCA) is an alliance between twelve secondary schools across Devon and East Cornwall, alongside our HEI partner, the University of St Mark and St John. Within this Alliance are a wide range of schools:
- Liskeard School & Community College
- Tavistock College
- Budehaven Community School
- Holsworthy Community College
- Torpoint Community College
- Lipson Cooperative Academy
- King Edward VI Community College
- Dawlish Community College
- Cullompton Community College
- Tiverton High School
- South Molton Community College
- Okehampton College
all unique and differing in size, rurality and location. The strength of this partnership lies in a shared ethos of the cooperative values and a firm commitment to working together to share areas of expertise that will maximise the opportunities for our pupils, staff and wider communities.
School Direct is designed to give experienced professionals and higher class degree students an alternative pathway to a career as a teacher, whilst allowing schools to invest in and develop the calibre of teachers they and their students need. This School Direct model combines the highest levels of education pedagogy and research from both our HEI partner and classroom based practitioners, whilst being delivered primarily within a school based setting. Subsequently you will be a member of your school team from the first day of term whilst also benefitting from a full 40 week schedule.
The DACCA School Direct training programme leads to the award of a Post Graduate Certificate of Education (PGCE) with Qualified Teacher Status. The DACCA will provide a dedicated host school and mentor, with a contrasting and complementary placement school, both within the Alliance. Whilst there can be no guarantee of employment in our schools at the end of this course, we are confident that your training skills and references should put you in a strong position to apply for any posts both locally and further afield.
